Help foster our future workforce

The Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) Program is an on-the-job training program during which a school student is expected to master a set of skills or competencies related to their Vocational Education and Training (VET) program in a host employer's workplace.

Host employers supervise students as they practise the industry skills learned in their VET programs within the host employer’s workplace. It's an opportunity to share your knowledge with students who have an expressed interest in your industry and can be a good way to 'try before you buy' by assessing a potential employee's attitudes and skills.

Businesses of all sizes and in most industries are welcome to join the SWL program so if you’d like to know more about hosting a student visit the Structured Workplace Learning section of the Inner Northern Local Learning and Employment Network's website.

Alternatively, visit the SWL Portal for employer-specific information.
