The newly established First Peoples - State Relations Group is seeking talented and passionate individuals committed to progressing the Victorian Government's nation leading work with First Peoples.

This is a unique opportunity to work in new and innovative ways that recognise First Peoples as the self-determining drivers of Aboriginal affairs in Victoria. These roles will contribute to the ground-breaking work of the Group in the areas of truth, treaty, self-determination and cultural rights.

As the Coordination and Administration Officer, your duties will include:

  • managing relationships and liaising with senior management, branch heads, departmental staff, and other public and private sector agencies in order to collect or impart information
  • assessing and prioritising incoming papers, emails and telephone enquiries and taking follow up action as needed
  • developing and maintaining record, filing and document management systems
  • managing the compilation and synthesis of information from various sources and preparing reports and overviews to enable executive decision-making and action
  • a range of other administrative tasks, including human resource and financial management systems and stakeholder relationship requirements.

As the our ideal candidate, you will have:

  • experience in providing high level confidential administrative and coordination support to a senior manager or team, with highly developed initiative and ability to work under pressure with limited supervision
  • strong organisational and time management skills, with experience planning, prioritising and managing the execution of a range of competing tasks to strict deadlines, while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail and accuracy
  • the ability to clearly and confidently communicate with people at all levels of the organisation
  • well-developed written communication skills, including the ability to prepare briefs, correspondence, and/or reports using clear, concise and grammatically correct language
  • excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain productive relationships.
