Great opportunity for an experienced Medical Administrator with a clinical nursing background to work for an outstanding Obstetrician and Gynaecology practice that works extensively in the subspecialty areas of ultrasound and prenatal diagnosis. The practice philosophy is that patients' experience is enjoyable, comfortable and informative during these important and sensitive examinations.

As an experienced Medical Receptionist/Clinical Assistant, you will be responsible for the smooth running of the practice and to ensure that patients are seen in a timely manner with sensitivity and professionalism. As this role is very specialised, candidates from an Obstetric and Gynaecology/nursing background will be highly regarded.

The clinic hours are rostered between 7.15am to 6.00pm based in East Melbourne.

There are two vacancies available which include 3 or 4 days per week (days to be discussed and negotiated) with the ability to work between satellite offices, also to be discussed for convenience of location.

Principal responsibilities include:

General duties:

  • Ensure that reception, consulting rooms, patient change and waiting area are maintained
  • Attend staff meetings and yearly appraisals, assist in staff training
  • General housekeeping

Reception duties:

  • Answer the telephone and handle calls as necessary
  • Make, confirm and reschedule appointments
  • Send outpatient reports/letters and information
  • Prepare accounts, collect and receipt payments
  • Filing, faxing, emailing reports and photocopying
  • Ordering medical and office supplies
  • Maintain computer records

Clinical duties:

  • Prepare patients for treatment and assist doctors with examinations and procedures as required
  • Discussion with patients and when necessary doctors, to ensure patients have a thorough understanding of the consent to procedures
  • Assist with procedures including Amniocentesis, CVS, Fetal Blood sample etc
  • Ensure all specimens are sent to the appropriate laboratories, labelled correctly and accompanied by appropriate request forms
  • Support for patients following ultrasound or other procedures
  • Administering of injections when required (if qualified)
  • Ensure all instruments are sterilised appropriately, ensure all drugs and other injectables are kept as per manufacturer's instructions
